Sugar, Daddy
Using the body as a prime mode of exploration, I investigate both my relationship with Coca-Cola and my Mother. This product meant survival for our family, as it was one of the best sellers in the humble mom-and-pop store that my Mother ran illegally from our porch. I also think about the sticky and messy relationship that my mother has to my queerness using condensed Coca-Cola as a metaphor. Both erotic and visceral, Sugar, Daddy (2018) plays with ideas of fetish luring the viewer into an economy sugarcoated in decay.
