Sugar, Daddy
(Video)
2018

In Sugar, Daddy, I investigate both my relationship with Coca-Cola, my mother, and my queerness. Coca-Cola among other confectionary items meant survival for our family, as it was one of the best sellers in the humble mom-and-pop store that my mother ran unlicensed from our porch in Nassau. I ponder the sticky and messy relationship that my mother has to my queerness using condensed Coca-Cola as a metaphor. Both erotic and visceral, Sugar, Daddy (2019) plays with ideas of fetish luring the viewer into an economy sugarcoated in decay.
