I am interested in the way these objects read as 'white' or as being about 'whiteness' although my politics are rooted within a discourse of a lived black experience. The white, of what can be referred to as 'purity' here references Ralph Ellison's complex critique on race using Liberty White Paints as a metaphor in his classic novel Invisible Man.
