Dis We Tea Party
socially engaged work involving conversations over tea
2013

During the summer of 2013, which marked the fortieth anniversary of independence from the British Empire, I met with forty people living in the Bahamas to discursively and collectively define the essence of what it means to be Bahamian. I made forty ceramic teacups and saucers and had forty individual conversations that transcended social, economic, ethnic and racial boundaries. After each conversation I traded a teacup and a saucer with the participant. Dis We Tea Party is a physical manifestation of my findings. Diverse, Symbolic, Personal, Collective. In 2014 TEDx Nassau invited me to present on Dis We tea Party. Please click this link to watch the video.
